About Me

Hi there! Is this where I spill the tea and talk about me? Okay then, let’s get into it...

The Boring Section:

After graduating from high school in Hawaii, USA, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, to explore different educational opportunities. I discovered a fantastic accredited college, the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, located in Tempe, Arizona. Over the next four years, I earned my degree in Mind-Body Psychology (psychoneuroimmunology) with a minor in Whole Foods Nutrition. Additionally, I obtained my Licensed Massage Therapy qualifications, specializing in Myotherapy, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage, Craniosacral Therapy, and Polarity Therapy.

At the start of my career, I primarily worked in pain management clinics, treating chronic pain conditions and structural misalignments.

A Bit More Interesting:

I then decided to take my knowledge and skill set abroad by working in spas on cruise ships from 2008 to 2016. This was a fantastic way for me to meet people from all over the world and observe, in a controlled environment, how effective treatments can influence not only the physical structure but also the mental and emotional condition. Having the privilege to work on so many different people allowed me to map how specific mental and emotional conditions universally manifest in the body.

I spent the first four years of my career on cruise ships performing massage therapy treatments and the last four years onboard as a Spa Director, managing five departments. I went from teaching people how to cope with stress to being in the trenches, working 70+ hours a week and neglecting my own well-being. I watched my body deteriorate—and my mental health along with it. Never had I truly understood what stress felt like until I was responsible for operating multimillion-dollar spas and managing teams of 28+ people. From feeling overwhelmed to experiencing adrenal fatigue, panic attacks, stomach ulcers, and chronic anxiety—I’ve been there, done that, and have personally endured all the physical, mental, and emotional ramifications of stress.

But there is light on the horizon…

The Best Bit:

While onboard, I met my future husband. We decided to leave life at sea behind and settle on land in the United Kingdom. We now have two beautiful children and are navigating the journey of parenting together. Out of all my adventures, parenting has been the most challenging yet rewarding. Our son is autistic, and our daughter shows traits of ADHD.

When I say this is the best part, I truly mean it! My children have guided me back to healing my nervous system and improving my emotional regulation. As parents, it’s so easy to put our needs aside and prioritize everyone else. The biggest challenge for me has been learning to prioritize my own well-being. However, I’ve come to a clear understanding—and taken full ownership—that if I don’t meet my own needs, no one else will.

How can I expect to show up as my best self and parent effectively if I’m running on the TLCW diet (toddler leftovers, coffee, and wine)? How can I help my children regulate their emotions if I’m overwhelmed by my own? How can I rest at night when my mind is constantly racing—thinking about the past, present, and future? I realized that I had been functioning in survival mode. But I don’t want to just survive my life—I want to thrive in it! That shift started with acknowledging that my outcomes were the result of my daily habits and choices. Taking accountability for what I can control and implementing systems to nourish my mind, body, and spirit has been the key to regulation and healing.
